The Grayson Rose

I am extremely touched and thankful that Paul Zimmerman and Ashdown Roses honored Grayson by naming a rose after her. In addition, they have decided to use proceeds from the sale of The Grayson Rose to help others. I am humbled.

My daughter Grayson died in Oct. 2008. My wife was 35 weeks pregnant when we were told Grayson would not take a breath on this planet. In seconds, we went from the excitement of having another baby girl to having our heart ripped out, our breath taken away, and a complete darkness settle upon us.

Although we never got to hear her giggle or coo, we did get to hold our baby. It meant a lot to us to be able to touch her and feel her little toes. Grayson was a beautiful baby with lots of brown hair. Her face often pops into my mind and I think about what a great little sister she would have been to Addison.

I know Grayson was here for a reason. One of those reasons was to make me realize how much love I have in my life. Another reason, was to have this rose, named in her honor to help others.
When you see your Grayson rose bloom, please think of the love around you. Remember not to take that love, from family and friends, for granted. Acknowledge it, love back, and hug as many loved ones as you can.

I just bought the Grayson Rose for my mother for Mother's Day. She used to have roses all the time when I was a child. She almost died giving birth to me and lost a son prematurely between my birth and the birth of my younger brother. She's never really talked about him when we were kids, but I know she used to dream of him. I know this rose will mean a lot to her and will mean a lot to me knowing that instead of giving her roses that will die in a week, she's getting a gift that will continue to thrive and I am helping the March of Dimes.

I purchased a rose today in memory of Grayson and a child I lost to miscarriage. I was blessed with two beautiful, healthy children and try to realize everyday how lucky I am. It is wonderful to be able to honor the little angels we lost and help MOD!

I ordered two today. I hope they are as easy as Paul says they are to take care of. They look beautiful. It is wonderful to be a part of this.
